米国日産で片山さんの秘書を長く務められたジョニー（ウエダ）ゲーブルさんより当クラブ宛にお便りがございましたので、ここに紹介させていただきます。
We are very pleased to provide our biographies for introduction into your S30Z owners club.
Biography of Johnnie (Ueda) Gable
Johnnie Gable was born in a small town of Dawson, Texas, which is about 90 miles south of Dallas. During my school years, my studies in high school included typing and dictation by shorthand. After graduation, my next residence was in Dallas, Texas, where these skills were applied at a very large insurance company.
In the year of 1952, I moved to the State of California. This has been my home now for seventy (70) years.
My association with Datsun/Nissan began after five years of working in the engineering field, where jobs were not so easily obtained in 1963. An associate that was working with me enticed me to join her at a company named Datsun/Nissan.
This company was located at 137 E. Alondra Boulevard, Gardena, California.
Not familiar with the Datsun automobile, it did not take me long to enjoy working in this new field. My original position was secretary in the parts department.
Another position that I was assigned to was placing vehicle orders directly to Nissan in Japan for Mr. Katayama. This was done on a teletype machine by inserting individual vin numbers and sending these via tape directly to Japan.
After this company continued to grow, Mr. Katayama offered me a position as his secretary, which I graciously accepted. This position I retained until Mr. Katayama's retirement in 1977. My employment at Nissan continued several more years until I retired. Note: Mr. Katayama has been called Mr. K. for years and this will be how I will refer to him for the rest of this writing.
My love for the Datsun vehicles began from the many years of working inthis field.
I was very enthused when the Datsun 240Z was introduced in 1970..
In 1972, the automatic version was released for sale in the United States.
Mr. K. asked that I submit a request to our distributor for release of an automatic 240Z for his personal vehicle. This request was submitted to Nissan's distributor, Distribution and Auto Service, located in San Pedro, California. I submitted this order by using the automatic model code, color code, etc. Prior to delivery, Mr. K. had this 1972 Datsun 240Z (HLS30-52426) repainted from it's original yellow to a 1972 Chevrolet Nova yellow color code. It was also installed with a rear spoiler and a "G" nose. Needless to say this is and
still to date some 40 plus years later, a very beautiful 240Z. This will always be known as Mr. K's Famous Yellow 240Z. Upon Mr. K's retirement , I was highly honored to acquire , MR. K's FAMOUS YELLOW 240Z.
Now, I feel that it is very important to introduced you to my son, Kenny "John John"Ueda.
My son was only two years old when I accepted employment with Datsun. His first vehicle was a Datsun (red) 620 pick up. He enjoyed driving his little Datsun pick up during the last years of high school.
During the spring of 1977, son, John at the age of 16 and I took our first trip in the "Mr. K Famous Yellow Z". This 240Z was driven from Los Angeles, California to Texas and back where we visited his grandparents. He enjoyed driving this Datsun little yellow Z for most of the trip.
It would not be complete without including Masataka and Fusako Usami in this biography.;
I met both of the Usami's while working as Mr. K's secretary on Alondra Boulevard, in Gardena, California. Over the years, my son and I have enjoyed traveling to may of the Z Car Conventions with the Usami''s.
The most special travel, carefully coordinated by Usamisan, was a trip to Kona, Hawaii. This event was to celebrate Mr. K's 98th birthday.
My son and I sincerely appreciate and graciously accept your offer to join the Club S30 in Japan.

クラブS30の皆様への自己紹介を兼ねて経歴をお話します。
ジョニー・ゲーブルの経歴
私ジョニー・ゲーブルはテキサス州のダラス（dallas）から90マイル(140キロ)ほど南のドーソン（Dawson）という小さな町で生まれました。高校時代に私はタイプライターと速記の技能を習得しました。
この技能は卒業後にダラスに移り大手の保険会社で生かすことが出来ました。1952年になって私はカリフォルニア州に引っ越し以来今日まで70年間カリフォルニアに住む事になりました。
1963年頃は就職難でしたが、私が技術関連の職場で５年ほど働いた頃に同じ職場の仲間の誘いで一緒にDatsun/Nissanと言う会社に転職しました。この会社はガーデナと言う町の東アロンドラ通り１３４番地に有りました。ダットサンと言う名前の車の事は良く知らなかったけれど、仕事には直ぐに慣れ楽しみました。初めは部品部の秘書でしたが、やがて片山氏の指示に従って車両の注文書を日本の日産本社に送る仕事になりました。この仕事はテープにVINなどを打ち込んでテレタイプで日本に送信するのでした。米国日産が成長するに従いミスター片山（以後ミスターKとする。）から私に秘書の仕事へのお誘いを受けて私は喜んでお受けしました。以来１９７７年にミスターKが引退されるまで、私は秘書として仕事を続けました。ミスターKが引退された後も私は米国日産で数年間働きました。
以上の経歴から私はダットサンを心から愛する様になりました。1970年に240Zが登場した時にはとても興奮しました。1972年にはオートマチックトランスミッションの240Zが登場しミスターKの希望でサンペデロに有るDASに対して車体色や車両のモデル番号を指定してミスターK専用の車を注文しました。この240Zは HLS30-52426号車で車体色を1972年式のシボレー・ノバの黄色に塗り替え、更にリヤスポイラーとGノーズを取り付けました。この車は40年以上も「ミスターKの黄色の２４０Z」の呼称のまま当時の美しい姿を保っています。ミスターKの引退後は私と、息子のジョンがこの車を譲り受け大切に保管しています。
さて、ここで私の息子のケニー・ジョン・ジョン・ウエダを紹介致します。
私が米国日産で働き始めた頃、彼はまだ２歳でした。そして成長した彼が初めて持った車は赤い車体色のダットサン620型ピックアップトラックでした。彼はこの車を高校卒業まで大切に乗りました。
1977年の春 私は１６歳になったジョンを「ミスターKの黄色い２４０Z」に乗せてロサンゼルスからテキサスの祖父母の元に往復させました。この道中ほとんどを、彼が運転して楽しみました。
この経歴に忘れる事が出来ないのは、宇佐美さんご夫妻についてです。
私がお二人にお会いしたのは、遥か昔のガーデナの東アロンド通りに事務所が有った当時でしたが、その後全米各地開かれた年中行事の
Zcar convention には、私がジョンを連れて宇佐美さんご夫妻と御一緒に出席致しました。
そして、忘れられないのは、宇佐美さんが念入りに計画されたハワイ島のコナでのミスターKの98歳の誕生祝いの集まりです。
私とジョンは、この程日本のCLUB S30の名誉職に名前を連ねさせて頂く事は心から喜び感謝してお受けしたいと思います。

Biography of Kenny "John John" Ueda
My association with Datsun/Nissan USA began at a very early age as indicated by mymother's biography, Johnnie (Ueda) Gable.
I was born in Santa Monica, California and have been a resident of California by entire life. After my graduation from high school and while attending college, I began my employment with Rockwell, now known as Boeing for over thirty (30) years. The majority of my career was working on the space shuttle program.
Owner of the MR.'S K'S FAMOUS YELLOW 240Z has been a great enjoyment over the years. I enjoyed driving Mr. K. to many Z events, when he visited the U. S. after
his retirement. Even at an early age I enjoyed Mr. K. teaching me how to fly the kites that he so loved. Along with the Mr. K. famous Yellow Z., I am the proud owner of several of his very special kites.
Currently, I am retired from Boeing and still love traveling with my mother to the many Zcar conventions, since her retirement. I also enjoy my 2004 Nissan 350Z, my little, 1963 , L320 Datsun pickup, a 1964 Datsun 1500cc roadster in restoration and my 2008 Nissan Titan Pro 4.
My sincere thanks to all of your club S30 members and to Masataka Usami.

私の息子のケニー・ジョン・ジョン・ウエダの経歴です。
私とDatsun/Nissanとの関りは、母の経歴で述べた様に随分昔に遡ります。私はカリフォルニア州のサンタモニカで生まれ、以後はずっとカリフォルニア州で過ごしています。高校を卒業し大学に行く傍ら、今はボーイングの名前で知られるロックウェル社で働きました。この会社で私は生涯の仕事のほとんどの部分をスペースシャトルのプログラムに関りました。
幾年にもわたって「ミスターKの黄色い240Z」の持ち主で有る事はすばらしい喜びです。ミスターKが引退後にアメリカでZCar大会に来られた度に運転手の役をさせて頂くのはとても嬉しいことでした。また、私がもっとも若い時代には凧を飛ばすのを楽しんだミスターKに飛ばし方教えて頂いたのでした。黄色の240Zの他に私は幾つかの珍しい凧を保管しています。
ボーイング社から引退した現在は毎年各地で開催されるZCar大会に母と共に出席することを楽しみにしています。黄色の240Zの他に2004年式350Zと可愛い1963年式のL320 Datsun Pickupトラック、そして1500ccのロードスター、最後に2008年式のTitan Pro 4を所有しています。
クラブメンバーと宇佐美昌孝さんにクラブに参加させて頂いたことを心から感謝しています。
